Substance Church & Manna Market — Serving Our Community Together
What is Manna Market?
Manna Market is a free food pantry and food recovery initiative serving our neighbors in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area. Its mission is rooted in compassion — to rescue good, nutritious food that might otherwise go to waste and make it available to individuals and families who need it most.
A Faith-Fueled Partnership
Although a separate organization, Substance Church is proud to partner with Manna Market as part of our local outreach and service mission. While Manna Market is its own community-focused organization, Substance Church provides essential support by hosting food distribution, engaging volunteers, and helping connect neighbors with the resources they need.
This collaboration reflects a shared belief that basic needs should be met with dignity and respect, and that serving others is a core expression of faith in action. Through this partnership, we work together to:
- Recover food from local grocers and partners like Second Harvest Heartland, Target, and Cub Foods
- Distribute quality groceries including breads, milk, eggs, produce, and more to people in need.
- Offer a welcoming, supportive place for anyone seeking free food — no questions asked.
How It Works
Each week, Manna Market collects food that might otherwise be wasted, sorts it with the help of volunteers, and makes it available at the Substance Church Northtown Campus in Spring Lake Park. Community members can pick up groceries during scheduled distribution times — serving veterans, families, individuals experiencing homelessness, and anyone facing food insecurity.
Serving Together
Substance Church members, friends, and volunteers come alongside Manna Market in a variety of ways:
- Sorting and packing food
- Praying with and for our neighbors
- Helping distribute groceries
- Offering support and care with a smile
Through this work we get to participate in building community, showing love, and living out our faith through practical action.
